We require a brief office consultation with Dr. Rahaman to review the indications and risks of Reclast (zoledronic acid) intravenous
injection treatment for postmenopausal osteoporosis. We will also arrange or review baseline serum calcium and renal function blood testing.
The FDA recommends adequate Calcium and Vitamin D supplementation with Reclast to prevent hypocalcemia:
"For osteoporosis treatment, and to reduce the risk of hypocalcemia, patients must be adequately supplemented with calcium and vitamin D if dietary intake is not sufficient. Postmenopausal women require an average of 1200 mg calcium and 400 – 800 IU vitamin D daily." We recommend starting AmeriSciences Osteo at this visit.
